I called this series of linoprints “Feira de Queimadas” (“Queimadas central market”). Queimadas is the town in Brazil where my family is from, and that I had the chance to visit again in September 2023- after five years from the last time I was there. “Feira” is the Portuguese word for the town’s central market. Markets are a recurring topic in my work. I love the combination of colours, shapes, smells... together with the bustle and hustle of people and the human interactions.

A esta serie de gravados en linóleo chameina “Feira de Queimadas”. Queimadas é a vila do interior do estado da Bahia, no Brasil, de onde ven parte da miña familia e que visitei de novo en Setembro do 2023, despois de cinco anos dende a última vez que puidemos viaxar alí. Os mercados son un elemento recorrente no meu traballo. Fascíname a mestura de cores, formas, cheiros… xunto co boureo das conversas, e do ir e vir das xentes e as interaccións entre elas.
