Tapestry “Summer of 2022”

The effects of the Climate crisis have been visible for years now - but in the past few years, the evidence has become much more apparent, no matter which part of the globe you are on.

I used to spend summer holidays in my village. A younger, more naive me would see summer as a relaxed, worry-less and joyful time to recharge batteries at the beach, a time to be with friends and family, sharing fresh meals, going to open air concerts and village festivities. However, I can no longer think of what things mean to me alone, but now also consider the impact they have for other people and for the planet. At the end of last summer I asked myself the question “What do you think about summer now?”. The outcome was this tapestry: a result of not knowing what to do with the restlessness and helplessness. It is an attempt to contribute the best way I know: making art. An attempt to serve, at least, to create awareness about the seriousness of the situation and an invitation to think twice about the consequences of our actions.
