Cells

This project started both as a way of reusing scrap fabric from other projects, as well as finding a convenient format for bringing an embroidery project on my trips.

Embroidery is like therapy, and I always tend to bring a traveling kit with me: it calms my anxiety, fills waiting times and sometimes brings me to a state close to meditation.

A reoccurring topic in my work, I draw the people I see around me during those trips. People that share the same spaces - the train, the underground, a waiting room, an airport… - People that share the same spaces but don’t interact. Isolated in bubbles, in their own cells.

How many lives are similar? How many problems could be fixed if we talked, if we realized that the vast majority of people share the same concerns?
